New beds and pillows would make a huge improvement they were both a little tired, plus blackout blind at the window as it was very light very early

Thirsk and Sowerby make an excellent base for exploring Darrowby - Herriot Country, the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors by car, bicycle or walking.
Thirsk is a small compact Market Town mentioned in the Doomsday book as Tresche. The cobbled Market Place dates from medieval times and is still the centre of commerce in Thirsk. Most of the shops are still around the market place extending north up Kirkgate to "The World of James Herriot", Thirsk Museum and the spectacular 15th century church St Marys. Eastwards the shops extend towards Cod Beck along Millgate and Finkle Street and to the West along Castlegate and Westgate towards Sowerby and the racecourse.
SOWERBY. It joins hands with Thirsk, but keeps its own identity. On its long road, lined with trees like an avenue, are an old timbered house and a church of old and new; and over the Cod Beck at its southern end is an old packhorse bridge.
