"The perfect cottage for what we wanted!"
A really enjoyable stay. The cottages are simple but pleasant. Everything is very clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful. We stayed for 3 nights, but I could happily have stayed there for much longer. Although it was based at an inn, it was very quiet and peaceful. The surrounding village and countryside was great to explore too. Very handy for Thirsk which was the deal breaker in choosing the place. Read less

I think we were lucky enough to get the cottage which had the best views out of all of them. It was worth the price of the cottage for that view alone. The staff were great & very helpful when needed.

"Great base"
Stayed in a cottage for 1 night. Great location and setting. Staff were very friendly. We had a meal in the Inn which we had booked in advance and both the service and food were excellent. Couldn't really fault anything about it apart from the light in the double bedroom was a bit dim. Much preferred the cottage to hotel rooms as it meant we could all be together in the evening rather than squashed in 1 hotel room. The kitchen was well equipped. Great that you can rent these for 1 night only. Read less

The Yorkshire Dales, North York Moors and the historic city of York are all within easy travelling distance, and the market town of Thirsk (once home to TV vet James Herriot) is only 3 miles away.

The inn boasts a cosy, relaxing atmosphere with exposed beams and a roaring open fire.

We are a family run business and pride ourselves on friendly service, great cask ales and good homemade, locally sourced food.

Why not join us for a relaxing drink, family meal or escape to the country in one of our 6 holiday cottages.

The Lavocah family, the resident proprietors, together with their staff aim to provide all visitors with the very best in comfort, great food and drink and service.
