"Promises a lot, but fails to deliver"
I stayed here for just the one night for a business meeting the next day. Arrived late afternoon and staff were expecting me and an associate who had also booked.
Staff were helpful and pointed me to my room, which was quite pleasant if a little effeminate, but as it was just for 1 night was adequate. Read less
Likes:
Good pub atmosphere and friendly staff. Good breakfast with quality ingredients, but the toast was a little thin. Would have been better with thick sliced bread.
Dislikes:
No heating in room
No hot water, despite running tap and shower for well over 15 minutes.
Radiator/towel warmer in bathroom leaking water.

Room was freezing cold during the night and first thing in the morning. No warm running water from the shower or bathroom tap. As a result i attended my meeting the next day unwashed. Not ideal!!!

"Disappointing"
Not welcomed on arrival, staff not particularly friendly & were unprofessional. Room although clean was 'shabby' & poorly equipped, ridiculously small sized TV on wall. No electric sockets available to use without moving furniture. Tea & coffee facilities supposed to be provided but we had to ask for cups & milk! We were given a family room but we had booked a double. Double bed was extremely uncomfortable with loud creaking springs, mattress needs replacing without a doubt. Read less
Likes:
Not a lot, it was close to York which was good, as the purpose of our trip was to visit the the Christmas market.
Dislikes:
All the things already mentioned but most of all the totally unprofessional, couldn't care less attitude of the owner, very poor customer relation skills, worst place we have stayed in for a long time
