location central. Big room but needs refurbished as old and tired and bathroom not great.
Dislikes:
Breakfast room floor filthy from night before. Odd as 3 staff chatting as we came in night before, a quick tidy up would have been more useful.

"OK but could do better"
I telephoned to make a booking and before concluding asked if the views were good, meaning from the hotel. Seagull looked out onto a wooden fence! The room was fine but small and watching TV was difficult in bed. The food options for supper were good and the quality was good. However, no Drambuie. A couple had a dog in house and I am sure it barked late at night and early morning. Premier in would have refunded our stay cost. Guests should no how to control the dog. Read less

Alnmouth is very pretty and a good location and convenient for the A1. Booking out was an issue as I rang 3 times with no answer actually left but returned and rang again, the card reader failed x 3
Dislikes:
Not enough space in the above. Probably would not return even though we go to Scotland at least twice a year

The pet friendly Hope and Anchor is reputed to be one of the oldest buildings in the popular seaside village of Alnmouth. It has been an Inn for as long as people can remember, and its walls will no doubt carry secrets and stories, which only they can tell.

The beautiful region of Northumberland has lots to offer, from long stretches of deserted sandy beaches to a plethora of historic castles and sites. All of our accommodation is ideally suited as a base to explore the many sights & sounds of the region. We have storage for bikes as we are on part of the Coast & Castle route.

Today, after a long period of refurbishment, John and Barbara Davison can offer you a comfortable base from which you can enjoy the delights of the heritage coastline, golf courses, cycle ways, walks and wide sandy beaches. There are 2 large family rooms, 4 double rooms, 1 twin room and 1 single room, all with en-suite showers and WCs.

You can relax in our cosy and well stocked bar, and re-fuel your energy levels in our informal restaurant. We have recently won an award for our food as we use only the finest local organic ingrediants and everything is homemade (including the chips). We offer a childrens menu where everything is fresh and homemade. We have a selection of real ales from around the region.

Dogs are more than welcome to come and stay with us at no extra charge. They are also allowed one part of our restaurant.

We can also provide ample room and catering for that special occassion, be it a wedding reception, birthday party or meeting.

There is no car park so it is on-street parking which unfortunately is out of our control.
