Likes:
I felt that the staff were friendly and happy to help with any enquiries. I also liked some of the quirky details in rooms like decorative plaques and cushions also hot choc and fruit teas in room
Dislikes:
We were a little disappointed with the "legendary" breakfast. It was very nice but not over exceptional. The sausage was big but the rest just fairly normal.

"Basic but excellent food and friendly staff."
My daughter and I were visiting the area so she could see Hadrian's Wall and surrounding historical attractions. The hotel was ideally placed for this which was why we chose it. We were welcomed warmly and extremely well fed - over fed really! All the staff were friendly and helpful - can' t fault anything there. Beds were comfortable despite the room being rather basic and in need of a facelift - especially the bathroom. Good for a budget priced stay. Read less
Likes:
The food! Well priced and delicious. The atmosphere in the hotel was relaxed and friendly.
Dislikes:
On arrival our room had not been prepared properly - no toilet paper, no milk or tea bags, and the previous occupants had left food in one of the cupboards.

Likes:
Comfortable bed and nice clean linen and towels
Dislikes:
Miserable person showed us to room, ok first impression, but many cobwebs let down general appearance. Brown robes and drawers spoil shabby chic attempt. Naked bulb in bathroom and loo seat fell off

Situated on the Bridge of Haydon Bridge (which originally dates back to the 1300's). The Anchor Hotel is a building steeped in history and it has been a Hotel in various guises for many years.
