Owner, Caroline, was very welcoming and helpful.Room was warm, comfortable and clean, with a "walk-in shower" en suite, bed very comfy, with tea/coffee facilities, TV with Freeview, hairdryer. 3 course full English breakfast, very good. Quiet location, sheep and horses outside the windows. Around Allendale itself the locals were very friendly and gave helpful advice when asked. Read less

Unfortunately the weather severely dampened our mini break. Caroline was very friendly and our Room (No.3)waws comfortable with a clean en suite and Bath (not all B & B's offer an actual bath these days). Being upstairs in a barn conversion meant we had only a limited view from the bedroom window (on all fours). Read less

There are several good pubs in the surrounding area, including a few that serve real ale (some from Allendale Towns very own brewery) but if you would rather just put your feet up and relax after a busy day exploring we can provide a delicious home cooked meal. Pack lunches are also available.

The interiors of the three large ensuite bedrooms are fitted out in a relaxing contemporary style and are situated in an attractive, recently converted, traditional Northumbrian stone barn set round a courtyard. .

The large, light breakfast room leads out through double doors on to the patio and courtyard where you are welcome to sit and enjoy yourself, or wander out on to the Fell for a walk down to the trout pond or through the hay field to explore the newly restored Lime Kiln.

The farm stands within an area of outstanding natural beauty and is also participating in the Countryside Stewardship Scheme which helps create the ideal environment for the natural flora and fauna within the area. In the spring and summer you will find a vast number of ground nesting birds, including rare black grouse, snipe and the distinctive curlews with their haunting cry. As High Keenley is a working livestock farm there are also plenty of sheep and cattle!

We are only approx. 40 minutes away from Gateshead MetroCentre, the largest indoor retail centre within the EU and 10 minutes later you could be in the centre of buzzing Newcastle.

There is a large car park available for guests.
