"A means to an end"
We wanted a place to stay that wasn't too expensive that was near friends. Whilst we didn't have high expectations for our stay we were disappointed overall. The room was cold, basic, main road was noisy, curtains were too thin, towels smelt damp, noisy cleaner downstairs from 8am. Walls are paper thin! Nowhere to get breakfast and no instructions for check out, as no one is based on site and pub didn't open till 12, we were unsure where to leave keys. Read less
Likes:
Bed was comfortable. Room was clean.
Dislikes:
Curtains too thin. Noise from road/pub/cleaner. As no one is based on site overnight I was surprised that no checkout instructions or contact details were left for owner In case of emergency.

"Clean but basic accommodation, shame about the noise!"
We stayed for 1 night visiting friends. We were in a room without a bathroom, which wasn't stated clearly at the time of booking. Luckily our party were the only ones staying, otherwise I wouldn't have been happy sharing a bathroom with complete strangers.
The place was fine for the price, but after a v late night we were woken up early by someone (a cleaner perhaps?) playing the radio very loud downstairs for a couple of hours, which woke us up a good 2 hours earlier than needed!!!! Read less

centrally located in the village, friendly staff.
Dislikes:
The noise in the morning.
All rooms should have ensuite facilities - not too much to expect in 2016

The village of Longhorsley is situated seven miles northwest of Morpeth and 14 miles south from Alnwick. It is bordered on the north by the river Coquet and lies on the Morpeth to Wooler road [A 697]. The village formally lay in three separate townships, which were known as Bigge's Quarter, Freeholders Quarter and Riddells Quarter.

The Shoulder of Mutton is located close to the renowned Northumbrian coast, just 25 minutes from the buzzing city of Newcastle upon Tyne, 30 minutes from the Cheviot Hills and well within reach of Hadrians Wall if you fancied a day trip.

We are a charming, traditional country inn full of character. Our comfortable bar serves up a great range of food and drink or for something a bit special you can dine in 'The Boundary Restaurant' and choose from a huge selection of regional, national and international dishes.

Our rooms are simple, light and spacious with televisions and tea and coffee making facilities, and we offer a very competitive bed and breakfast rate.
