This is a lovely hotel - a hidden gem! We stayed overnight on a tour around Yorkshire and Northumberland. Certainly the best hotel room of our trip! The room was luxurious and comfortable and the bathroom was gorgeous. Room featured locally produced teas and homemade biscuits. Had dinner in restaurant: it was both tasty and beautifully presented. Breakfast was excellent too. Read less

Steepness of stairs to rooms. A second handrail would have helped.Room described as overlooking river. True, BUT, also overlooked main road through village, bus stop and hotel car park!
