Hotel was easy to find and there is plenty of safe parking at the rear of the building.
Rooms were comfortable, but plain/basic décor. Location was good.
A quiet night even though this is a well attended pub.
Food served in the bar & restaurant is excellent - can recommend.
Good menu at breakfast - all freshly prepared. Read less
Likes:
The location, comfort and quiet surroundings.
Excellent food.
Dislikes:
A board on the wall with extra room keys on it - with access for anyone, staff or other visitors
The corridor had spare chairs and a table propped up, plus wallpaper missing - looked unkempt & scruff
Response from Queens Head:
Hello Marie, Thank you for your positive review. I am so pleased you enjoyed your stay with us and would recommend to friends.
We are undergoing redecoration all the time and the paper is actually off because of a very damp wall in the corridor which is drying out after work outside was completed recently. The two chairs in the corridor have gone for repair and the collapsible table also no longer there. Thank you again Teresa

Likes:
Very friendly obliging staff. Good bar and perhaps the best cooked trout meal ever tasted. Lovely evening waiting staff. Good breakfast.
Dislikes:
No reception or anyone in charge. Busy barman took us to room but didn't note change of numbers. Lady serving breakfast to everyone also had to take money. She had to decline reduction on twin room.

The Queens Head Inn lies in the centre of the Northumbrian village of Rothbury in the heart of the Coquet Valley. Within 1 mile of the Queens is CRAGSIDE House and Gardens. Cragside was the first house to be entirely lit by hydro-electric power and the gardens are the biggest rockery in the world. November sees the Gardens lit up, with magical evening walks around the lake, call for details. We are within 15 minutes drive of the town of ALNWICK, famous for its markets, Castle (of Harry Potter fame) and gardens.

Northumberland has more castles and fortified houses than any other English County. Other castles worth a visit are BAMBURGH, WARKWORTH, and the spectacular cliff top ruins of DUNSTANBURGH. The national park is on our doorstep and an 18 hole golf course within a short walk. The Northumberland coastline is as spectacular as it is varied - from rugged cliffs to stretches of golden sandy beaches. Dotted along the coastline are many seaside villages and sites to enjoy such as CRASTER, SEAHOUSES and ALNMOUTH. The Holy Island of LINDISFARNE is also within easy reach.

All of our rooms are comfortable with en-suite facilities, central heating, flat screen colour television/dvds, tea/coffee/biscuits hospitality trays, hairdryers and electric shaver points and they are all non-smoking. There is private parking and a patio garden with smoking shelter.

The Queens Head is noted for its excellent home cooked meals, using the best of local and seasonal produce. We also make our own sausages, black pudding and haggis so whether you choose a bar meal or something from the daily blackboard, you will not be disappointed. Our Restaurant is on the ground floor opposite the homely local Bar where you can enjoy a drink before and after Dinner.
Lunch and evening meals can also be taken in the Bar.

We strive to give good service in a comfortable and relaxing environment WE HOPE YOU WILL VISIT SOON.
