Would have given the room a 5 but it was too hot. Couldn't understand why as the heating was off. It was also a little bit noisy being over the entrance.

"What a shame"
We arrived about 4.00ish and were shown to our room. My husband is disabled and I was left to carry our case upstairs with no help . (The member of staff was heavily pregnant.) Our room was pleasant but a bedside light and clock/radio didn’t work.. We reported this and the light subsequently disappeared not to be seen again . Also the bath plug would not work. This was also reported but no action!. There was also only one bedside mat.: overall was good. Service in the restaurant at dinner was OK Read less
Likes:
Room was reasonably sized, warm and airy with a nice view over the valley. The bathroom was well appointed with good toiletries , towels and bathrobes. Standard of decoration throughout was good.
Dislikes:
Failure to fully address issues (see above). On our last morning we asked for poached eggs and after 20 minutes I eventually had to ask about them despite lots of talking going on in the kitchen.

The Duke of Wellington Inn is nestled in the Tyne valleys village of Newton just off the A69 near Corbridge, within easy access to Newcastle, Hadrian’s Wall Country, Hexham and Northumberland’s National Park. The inn has recently reopened following an extensive refurbishment. The new décor reflects the traditional country inn history but with a modern twist. Existing oak and stone has been enhanced with modern colours, furniture and fabrics. Lunches and dinners are served seven days a week in the bar and dining room. The food provides traditional British comfort eating to an exceptional standard and makes use of local, seasonal ingredients. A comprehensive range of beers and ales compliments an extensive wine list. The inn experience continues with seven bedrooms providing a very high quality of luxury accommodation. The outstanding views across the Tyne valley provide the ultimate conclusion to a visit to the Duke of Wellington which will stay with you long after you leave.
