For me it ticked all the boxes, I got off the train walked down the hill and there it was, Didn't need to go out, I have a couple of pints at the bar and a ale steak pie which was piping hot and very nice, The breakfast was very good and the staff very pleasant, This is just shy of 200yrs old so therefore its not a Travelodge, But they do need to work on the cleaning a bit more, Would I stay here again,,,,,,,,Yes. The County Hotel dates back centuries and was for many years called the Salutation Hotel, when the property was sold in the early 20th century the new owners renamed the hotel The County Hotel in order to help change its image, as the hotel was at that time being frequented by 'ladies of the night'. We are pleased to say this is no longer the case and this historic hotel offers you a warm and inviting welcome.
We have a traditional lounge bar, open to one and all, serving a range of spirits, beers and fine wines, champagne and other 'bubbles' to suit all budgets. Our resident head chef creates divine dishes to tempt your pallet, we also offer bar meals and daily 'specials' - great food, reasonably priced, using locally sourced produce where possible.
We pride ourselves on our friendliness and have a true desire to make your visit – whether for a meal, drink or overnight stay - comfortable, relaxing, enjoyable, providing excellent service.
The County Hotel's central location gives easy access to trunk routes, beach resorts and tourist attractions. Car parking on-site means your return at the end of the day is easy and convenient.
We are situated in the ancient and attractive county town of Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire. As well as being the county's administrative centre, Haverfordwest has a great variety of shops in the town and the outlying retail park.
The centre of Haverfordwest is dominated by the Western Cleddau that runs through the middle of the town and the castle that towers above it. Haverfordwest castle was built about 1120, situated within the Castle wall and previously the old prison governor’s house is the town museum.
Down river on the west bank of the river are the ruins of an Augustinian Priory that have recently been excavated and repaired. They occupy a pleasant setting beside the river, a short walk from the town centre.
The award winning Haverfordwest Farmers Market is held on the riverside every Friday.
