I stayed two nights the room had a "worn" feel about it but was clean and comfortable. The landlords and staff v friendly, the breakfast excellent. The price very fair i.e. good value. I will be staying there again. It is a bit remote if you're a city type but take your GPS/Sat-Nav and a decent map and you'll be OK. If you're into walking then a detailed map and probably a compass too. Bearing in mind it was a wet and windy week-end it came out well - not the best weather to judge a place. Read less
Likes:
The landord very pleasant, the breakfast first rate. They have a good "pub" bar and there is a good newsagent opposite. I didn't dine at The Cain but judging by breakfast then you need not fear.
Dislikes:
For the money no, it was v good. Plenty of car parking space around the back

"Good hotel friendly hospitable 2 night break to a great spot"
Hosts and staff all welcoming and helpful, we've been a few times over the years . Llanfyllin is a good base to explore the area and in our case return to visit relatives. We had some walks from the hotel and the town has intersting shops and characters. It's a good place to relax in the evening with good food beer or glass of wine. Read less

Llanfyllin is a charming town surrounded by the gentle rolling hills typical of the Mid-Wales borders, it is an ideal centre for exploring Mid- Wales, Snowdonia and the Welsh Coast. The Cain Valley, a 17th Century Coaching Inn, is full of Character and has an impressive Grade I listed Jacobean staircase. Our friendly courteous staff will ensure you have a comfortable stay in our family run hotel.

The Hotel comprises a total of eleven double or twin rooms, and two very spacious family rooms (suitable for up to 4 adults). All rooms are comfortable and wherever possible we have retained the buildings original features complete with “sloping floors” and exposed heavy oak beams.

For a weekend away, a mid week break or perhaps a weeks touring holiday, we are sure that you will be well looked after. With a good mix of locals and residents our popular bars provide a friendly atmosphere. Real ale drinkers will appreciate our regular and guest beers. We also offer a wide selection of wines from our cellar

The Cain Valley offers a comprehensive menu of home cooked meals, made with locally sourced ingredients wherever possible. Vegetarians are also well catered for.
