"Friendly and Informal"
The New Inn was fully booked, so we stayed in the Tanat Valley Inn which is over the road and in the same ownership.

Both Inns are beautiful historic buildings. The Tanat Valley Inn built in c1650 and the New Inn c1750.

Breakfast was served in the New Inn and was delicious and plentiful. We had dinner in both Inns while we were there. The food is of a good quality and reasonably priced. Read less
Likes:
The friendly and relaxed atmosphere. The beautiful historic buildings. The food. The staff, particularly Dai who is an excellent host.
Dislikes:
The 'quirks' of an old building such as strange noises from the plumbing might be a problem for people who prefer modern convenience. However, the beauty and friendliness of the place make up for it.

Breakfast included in the price of the stay which was very nice. Also all staff were welcoming and friendly. Off street parking, and very fair regarding room times.
Dislikes:
Ensuite room was showerless, only a bath. Used communal shower (which was very clean).

"Badly let down"
I booked an ensuite double room two months prior to the stay. On arrival discovered that the bathroom was down the hall. When I questioned this we were given lots of excuses as to why this had happened. Manager did not seem concerned at all and felt that we should be quite accepting of this. Room was small and dark. Carpet was dirty. Sockets had tape over them and the test sticker on plugs were dated 2013. Bathroom, although we had been assured was for our sole use had been recently used. Read less

The only plus was good evening meal. Very large portions. Nice cooked breakfast and the sheets on the bed were white and absolutely spotless.
The location was also very beautiful. Very pretty villag
Dislikes:
Being given outlandish excuses as to why our booking had not been what we asked for. The lack of concern about our situation and the fact that we were asked "what do you want me to do about it"?

The new inn Hotel is ideally situated at the foot of the stunning Berwyn Mountains, within easy reach of Oswestry, Bala and Welshpool. The New Inn provides good quality accommodation and serves excellent food and beer. Also perfect for outdoor enthusiasts, with walking trails, mountain biking and nearby lakes all with breath taking scenery on the doorstep.

Surrounded by Wales’ natural beauty the inn is very much the centre of village life. Llangynog is an ideal base for visiting many local attractions such as Pennant Melangell Church, Lake Vyrnwy, Bala, Llanrhaeadr Waterfall and with the coast only just over an hour away you will soon have a full diary of days out.

The New Inn has an excellent reputation for good food. The extensive menu ranges from delicious homemade soups, omelettes, curry dishes and steak pies, to your usual bar meals such as scampi, lasagna, gammon and a selection of steaks. Sunday lunch at The New Inn is not to be missed. With a choice of meats and fresh seasonal vegetables at a very reasonable price. To avoid disappointment booking is highly recommended!

Sometimes known as the Welsh Lake District, Llangynog is 5 miles north of Llyn Vyrnwy Lake, 11 miles south east of Bala Lake and 14 miles south east of Llyn Celyn Lake. It also has easy access to the town of Llanfyllin, and lies just 20 minutes from one of the Seven Wonders of Wales, the Pistyll Rhaeadr, or the Rhaeadr Falls. Bear in mind distances are as the crow flies and that the journey might be considerably longer ..but then that is all part of the fun of walking. If you enjoy walking, then Llangynog is the place for you. There are plenty of beautiful walks around both the village and the surrounding area, offering incredible panoramic views.
