"Very central to everywhere in Melrose"
Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Room was very clean and warm with good quality furniture, T&C, biscuits and kettle, plus bottled water. Bedding was lovely. Bed was quite uncomfortable possibly needing a new mattress. Bathroom was clean, but could do with updating - window draughty/noisy. Shower was pretty inadequate with poor pressure. Towels excellently large bath sheets but a wee bit thin and scratchy. Breakfast was perfect. Coffee fantastic. Carpet in lounge threadbare but comfyseats Read less
Likes:
Great bedlinen although mattress lumpy. Friendliness of the staff and locals who included us in their banter. We had a laugh.
Dislikes:
Seats in the bar were SO uncomfortable. Tried moving seats to the bar stools but they were still ucomfy.

Likes:
great location and leaving hotel
Dislikes:
disappointing. Food smells (fry ups) in corridor and room. No heating on in room. Towel rail on floor with screws pointing up (there was an apologetic sign). Pub toilets right outside family room.

Melrose is situated in the heart of the Scottish Borders. The town is skirted by the River Tweed and sheltered by the triple peaks of the Eildon Hills. The name Melrose is derived from a Cumbric (an early form of Welsh) word for Moelros and means "bare moor" or "bare promontory". Melrose is in a perfect location for the visitor and local alike to enjoy the beauty and peace of the Borders.

Melrose has an extensive range of shops and excellent local services. It also has a rich history, with architectural attractions, museums and exhibitions including the oldest continuously inhabited village in Scotland.

The Borders is a land of beautiful landscapes where wild upland hills give way to green and pleasant valleys on a journey to the sea.
