"Noise until 03:20 prevented us having a good night sleep and breakfast was disappointingly poor."
We booked our room at the hotel because it was close to the venue where a family wedding celebration was being held in the evening. The room was of adequate size and the bed was comfortable but the bathroom was poor: the light above the wash basin did not work; the toilet seat would not stay up and the shower head was mounted too high and had no height adjustment. Our night's sleep was distubed until 03:20 by loud music then by loud talking from the outside decking area. Breakfast was poor. Read less
Likes:
The location was good. The hotel had parking. The room was of adequate size and the bed was comfortable.
Dislikes:
The bathroom was poor. Loud noise from the outside decking area until 03:20. The cooked breakfast was restricted to 5 items. Coffee cups were removed from table as soon as we had finished drinking!

Melrose is situated in the heart of the Scottish Borders. The town is skirted by the River Tweed and sheltered by the triple peaks of the Eildon Hills. The name Melrose is derived from a Cumbric (an early form of Welsh) word for Moelros and means "bare moor" or "bare promontory". Melrose is in a perfect location for the visitor and local alike to enjoy the beauty and peace of the Borders.

Melrose has an extensive range of shops and excellent local services. It also has a rich history, with architectural attractions, museums and exhibitions including the oldest continuously inhabited village in Scotland.

A visit to the Scottish Borders is to experience Scotland at its traditional best. The Borders is a land of beautiful landscapes where wild upland hills give way to green and pleasant valleys on a journey to the sea. They offer outstanding facilities for cycling, hill walking, driving and bird watching. A visit to the Scottish Borders is to experience Scotland at its traditional best.
