"Lovely Four-Night Stay"
After working all day in the Shropshire Archives, there was nothing better than coming back to a clean, spacious room right next to a welcoming, friendly pub! The staff were all friendly and accommodating, the breakfasts were hearty and tasty, the pub was comfortable and always played good music, and my room and bathroom were clean and comfortable. I have no complaints - a really lovely visit, and if I need to stay in Shrewsbury again, I know where I'll book! Read less

The staff were incredible, and the room was great; the meals and drinks in the pub were also appropriately priced, and tasty.

The Old Post Office is a traditional family pub. We serve an excellent menu throughout the day. For more information on accommodation please click on the link.

The Old Post Office dates from the 16th Century and is the last of 5 public houses that were licensed in Milk Street. The others were The Angel, The Beehive, The Mug House and The Sun Tavern. The Old Post Office has kept the same name throughout it's history. The has nothing to do with The Royal Mail, but refers to a posting house horse-drawn coaches and as late as 1900 there was stabling for thirteen horses. Wagons to Lyth Hill, Condover, Ryton and Wheathall would depart the inn on Wednesdays and Saturdays of each week.

The pub currently has six b&b rooms and a function room which is available for private parties as well as playing host to a variety of live music events. The building is Grade II Listed and many features of the original building still remain. The pub maintains it's reputation for excellence with a wide range of traditional cask ales and home-cooked food.
Parking is available close by from £4 per 24hrs.
