The Original Bar Area dates back to atleast early 1940s with original oak beams & low ceilings. We are favoured for our Cask Marque Award Real Ales & selection of fine wines.
Our 80 Seater Restaurant is very popular with guest and our extensive Menu has something for everyone; we specialise in freshly cooked sesonal food, sourcing local produce where possible. We have a large beer garden, thats a real suntrap with a large patio area. Our 8 en-suite are new for 2009, each room has en-suite bath & shower rooms, freeview flat screen televisions, Tea & Coffee making facilities & high speed free WIFI. Situated about five miles northeast of Bridgwater, Cannington has a charming centre with many older buildings and a medieval church. At 10 metres above sea level, the village lies between the plain of the River Parrett and the Quantock Hills.
An Iron Age fort once crowned Cannington Hill and there is evidence of Romano-British occupancy .In AD 87 a battle is said to have taken place here when Saxon King Odda drove back a party of Danish sea raiders.
Cannington Centre for Land-based Studies is a well-known educational establishment that also offers facilities for the general visitor too. These include a 9 hole /18 tee golf course, cycle hire facilities and Cannington Heritage Gardens- attractive walled gardens with a glass house. Grapes are successfully grown to produce award-winning wines at Oatley Vineyard in Cannington.
The River Parrett Trail passes close by as it approaches Bridgwater Bay on its final stages.
