Halse is a quiet village in Somerset, England, situated 6 miles (9.7 km) north west of Taunton in the Taunton Deane district. The village has a population of 271. The name of the village derives from the Old English heals meaning a neck of land. Halse is surrounded my miles of quiet country lanes and public footpaths leading off to hidden fields, lakes and streams, or taking you up to the top of the quantock hills and for that reason is extremely popular with walkers, cyclists and the like.
