"Comfortable and good value"
This was our second overnight stay at the Rest and Be Thankful and on both occasions the welcome has been warm and the room and meals of excellent quality. The room was spacious, warm with every need catered for. The evening menu offered a good choice with a Specials Board and the wine list is impressive and reasonably priced. The breakfast menu was equally impressive. Read less

I do not like dirty crockery or cutlery
Response from The Rest and Be Thankful Inn:
Dear Mr Folkes I am sorry that you did not enjoy your stay with us. I can only apologise for the dirty crockery and cutlery. As for the comments that we are unfriendly I would like to know how, I remember showing you into the hotel and your first night with us was very busy but we made sure you had everything you needed. If you had mentioned that you were unhappy with our service or goods perhaps we could have done something to rectify the problem.

This popular Inn and restaurant is in the centre of Wheddon Cross, the highest village on Exmoor, and a perfect base from which to explore this beautiful National Park. The Inn was originally a staging post for travellers on their way between Dunster and Dulverton, and you will still find a warm welcome, good food and extremely comfortable accommodation awaiting you there today, almost 200 years later.

Whether you are looking for a relaxing break in beautiful surroundings, or a more active holiday, the Rest and Be Thankful Inn and Exmoor are sure to meet your every need. Wheddon Cross, as its name suggests, sits on a crossroads near the centre of Exmoor. From here you have easy access to all parts of the National Park. The medieval village of Dunster is 6 miles away, with the seaside town of Minehead a further 3 miles. The pretty villages of Selworthy and Bossington in the National Trust owned Holnicote Estate are worth a visit, as are Winsford and Exford.

If you are looking for a walking, cycling, or fly-fishing break, we will do everything we can to provide you with the perfect holiday. There is a secure store at the Inn, where cycles and other equipment can be kept, and we also have a drying room for wet clothes and boots. Horse riding and hunting can be arranged with prior notice.
