"Beautiful character stay in the countryside"
We had two nights here at the George, staying in the building The Plaine, over the road. Lovely room with good amenities (liked the cafetiere, nice touch), fab breakfast, friendly staff. The place has an amazing ambience, unsurprising given its age. We had dinner one evening in the restaurant which was excellent and watched the Bonfire Night fireworks from the pub garden. Only thing I would change if I had the chance would be a bigger shower is ours was tiny! Thanks for a memorable stay! Read less

"Lovely BnB"
We chose this local BnB for a friends wedding, a few minutes from the reception venue. The George Inn staff were all lovely and friendly, and the room very fitting of the local area. The whole place had a lot of character and a great view from our room. Just to note, not really any local taxis and place is remote, do consider driving as taxis coming out from Bath are very expensive. Read less

Fourteen minutes from Bath and set in rolling green, Somerset hills, this 700 year old inn has much to delight - it is a feast for the eyes and boasts every traditional comfort.
Character bedrooms with beams and antique furniture, cosy bars, an ancient galleried courtyard, and wonderful food (We strive to source our produce locally and endeavor to make everything here on site) served in a choice of beamed dining rooms. The George, a grade one star listed building is situated in an idyllic setting with beautiful views. Our garden overlooks the village church against a backdrop of un-spoilt rural scenery. In the adjoining field there is a children’s playground. The Plaine Guesthouse also forms part of the business and has been refurbished in a contemporary style and the six rooms have been added to the accommodation offer in Norton St Philip. Should the rooms at the George be reserved you will be directed to the rooms at the Plaine.

Norton St Philip village is a real find as it has come through the centuries remarkably undisturbed. Architecturally, you can see mullion windows, stone-tiled roofs and the local stone facings of the cottages. There are medieval buildings and a number of cottages built in 17th and 18th centuries.
The local country side is intersected by footpaths and bridleways which are great for walks and discovering our local wildlife.
The George is dog friendly, and there is a small charge of £10 extra for them to stay with you in our wooden floored rooms. The Plaine does not accept dogs, so please give us a call to see if your room is suitable for dogs.
The George Inn and the Plaine are in a stunning setting and a perfect location for a varied and interesting break.
Safety: The George Inn is over 700 years old, we ask you to take care as there are many low beams and uneven and cobbled floors.
Please note that our rooms can be booked at room only or With breakfast. Please give us a call if you would rather speak to one of our team.
