"Relaixng break"
A lazy two days with our son and daughter. Our Sunday would have been substantially different had we known the dining room was not open that evening. We know and love Porlock and Exmoor and it was great. I would make the point that some weekend staff ( not all) seemed to think being casual was being friendly - it's not, it detracts from some elements of service. But we still enjoyed the weekend, but would only recommend it with a caution. Read less

We booked through Booking com and choose half board as giving value. Unfortunately, the dining room and kitchen are shut Sunday evening. Suitable adjustment and apologies were made at check out.

For over 200 years the Anchor has served Porlock Weir's 15th century harbour for sailors, walkers and huntsmen alike.

Where Exmoor meets the sea, Porlock Weir is an idyllic working harbour with stunning coastal views

Martin Miller together with his daughter Tanya have created a hunting lodge by the sea. This 14-bedroom hotel is crammed with Martin's antiques and curiosities. The Anchor has all the hallmarks of his unique style. Roaring log fires, candlelit sensuality, books by the thousand and bowls of fruit and sweets, all washed down with a Millers award winning Gin and tonic.

Our Harbourview restaurant overlooking the harbour serves the highest quality food with truly local produce.

We look forward to friends and new guests alike to sample the delights of one of Somerset hidden gems..
