I picked this hotel as it was near to Chester-le-Street for the Ashes cricket match and was more reasonably priced than other hotels in the vicinity. I also checked Trip Advisor, which gave a good impression of the hotel and the adjacent restaurant. All the staff were friendly and the room was very large unlike more modern hotels. In fact there was a general feeling of space in the hotel, bar and restaurant areas which was good. Ideal location in between Durham and Chester-le-Street for 2 nights Read less
Likes:
Room and bathroom very spacious and clean. Bar area had a nice, 'pubby' atmosphere and the Thai restaurant surpassed expectations as the food was truly delicious!
Dislikes:
Only thing was that there was no shower in the bathroom which was almost made up for by the excellent bath but could not wash my hair.
