The Village House Coaching Inn AD1527, is situated just off the Southdowns Way at the heart of the picturesque downland village of Findon, near Worthing. In the 1930s the Village House became a guest house and tea room. Today our rooms still retain their old world charm and atmosphere, but we try to offer a little more luxury than in the 1930s.

Considerate staff. We of course thanked the manager for his consideration, but did the mistake happen?
Dislikes:
Booking discrepancy meant that the manager was obliged to allow us a free breakfast.Embarrassing for him & us. The confirmations sent to us were contradictory. Not good for his business!!

"Not what we expected!"
The "double room" was so small there was nowhere to put suitcases. The carpet was old and stained. Downstairs a public toilet outside the bar always had the door wide open. The heating didn't work on arrival despite a previous guest's mention in the guestbook that room 5's heating was not working. Finally a portable heater was brought to the room & problem sorted the next day.Hot water tap turned on the basin when trying to get water. Read less

Effort was made with new bed linens and towels, curtains. Breakfast was good once you managed to find someone to take the order.
Dislikes:
See above. From the outside the Village House Coaching Inn looks very atmospheric and has the potential to be a lovely inn but basically it needs completely refurbishing.

The Village House Coaching Inn AD1527 is under the ownership of Paul Hills and Oliver Silverthorne and underwent a major refurbishment in early 2008, moving the bar across the room has opened up a bright and roomy bay window and installing a new log burner has given the pub a warm and cosy feeling. We have regular live entertainment with popular music nights and themed charity quiz nights amongst other events, see events page for details.

We have six individually furnished en suite bedrooms-including one four poster, plus two non-ensuite budget rooms. Each room has a TV, coffee and tea making facilities, hairdryer and wifi access. Our philosophy reflects the charm of the village so if a tranquil setting and atmosphere is what you are looking for we strive to make your stay a relaxing one.

The Village House Coaching Inn has always been one of the focal points of the village, so we try to cater for everyone from ramblers and cyclists looking for a reviving snack to families on the go and people looking for great food using great local produce. We strive very hard to source local produce (our chef even meets the local fisherman every morning to select fresh fish of the day) and have built a reputation for truly special freshly prepared fish and chips. We now have a Thai chef who makes her Thai curries to her grandmothers original recipes

All our food can be enjoyed in the restaurant or the lively bar which boasts a variety of real ales, lagers, premium spirits and malt whiskies with a wine list carefully selected by ourselves that combines old world maturity with new world freshness.

For the summer months you can relax in our picturesque enclosed beer garden and enjoy great weekend barbeques (weather permitting) and fresh summer food.
