I like the White Lion Hotel. The rooms in the hotel itself are beautiful. it has a warm coay friendly atmosphere.
Dislikes:
I stayed in an annexe room....no 7, which was very gloomy.. The bathroom ceiling was covered in cobwebs, and the skirting board in the bathroom was covered in layers of dust.

Likes:
Staff were very friendly, courteous and helpful. The location is great, very central, literally in the main town square with immediate access to all the shops etc. Food was to a high standard.
Dislikes:
Although room had nine lights it still managed to be gloomy. Bed too narrow. I found the lack of a desk/chair very inconvenient as needed to do paperwork.
Poor overall value for money.

"Disappointed, not value for money, poor quality food but pricey."
Car Park was full when we arrived and although we were told residents have priority parking in the event we had to park elsewhere in the town - not great when its raining. Unfortunately the attitude of the person in charge was a shrug of the shoulders, no attempt to point us in the direct of a car park although they knew we had traveled a reasonable distance. Were asked if we wanted to book dinner to which we agreed only then to find that they had no record of our booking when we wanted to eat. Read less

Hotel is in a very good location, nicely central to the town.
Dislikes:
(cont) We were then asked to move tables after we had ordered and had to stand our ground to retain our table. Had a long wait for cooked breakfast the next day which was barely warm when it arrived.

The White Lion is a traditional coaching inn; with exposed timber and masonry, an abundance of comfortable corners to hide in, and always a warm and friendly atmosphere. Set on a riverside location in central Hebden Bridge, the inn has always been well known for fine country ‘pub’ dining, and its extensive choice of wines and real cask ales. All of which can be enjoyed throughout the year, whether that be in front of a roaring log fire, or in one of our scenic riverside cobbled courtyards.

Surrounded by true Yorkshire history, the stunning countryside of the Pennines, and the deep ravined valleys of Calderdale; the area is popular with walkers, cyclists, country lovers, and those just in search of a contrast to a hectic lifestyle. Although nestled in the centre of the town near the ‘Yorkshire Bohemian’ shops for which Hebden Bridge is quite famous; the countryside can be easily accessed by foot straight from the doorstep of the inn. And that same doorstep has frequently offered a place of respite to many attempting the Pennine Way, or the more recent Tour De France cycle route. If sight-seeing is more your activity, then the famous sites of Haworth (with its Bronte Sisters and Railway Children heritage) and the World Heritage Site of Salts Mill in Saltaire, are all within very easy access. Close enough to the main rail and motorway networks, and just far enough away from the vibrant cities of Leeds and Manchester; the White Lion is ideally based for business or leisure.

And if you were to require an excuse to stay with us for longer, then there are 10 spacious en-suite rooms to choose from. The newly refurbished Boutique bedrooms, with Victorian Roll-Top baths, Sleigh beds, and deep luxurious colours; are complemented by our cosy Courtyard Cottages - perfect for walkers, dog friendly, and with the riverside literally at your front door. All rooms benefit from free WiFi.

Dated 1657, the White Lion is reputed to be the oldest building in this stunning town.
