"Unbelievably good customer service"
Stayed overnight whilst walking the Pennine Way - facilities were excellent and perfect after a long exhausting walk. During the day's walk, my son's boot parted company with the sole and it looked like we were stuck as it was Sunday and everywhere was closed. The proprietor went out of his way to help and, after exhaustive enquiries, not only managed to find a specialist outdoor specialist but persuaded him to drive to the hotel, pick us up, take us to his shop and fit my son with a new pair. The Carriage Inn is located in Marsden, a large village in West Yorkshire located just 7 miles from Huddersfield. The Carriage House offers a friendly bar, excellent restaurant and quality accommodation in a picturesque Yorkshire village.

The town of Huddersfield lies among hills, moorland and 300 million year old river valleys carved out by ancient tropical river deltas and glaciers. The steep green uplands skirting it to the South continue further on to become the Peak District while the coal rich land to the East tilts gently away towards the sea. Much of the land around Huddersfield rises to between 200 and 400m above mean sea level and the hills around the Holme Valley to the South and West of Huddersfield are among the prettiest to be seen in England.

Huddersfield is situated equidistantly between the cities of Manchester to the West, Leeds to the North and Sheffield to the South and is easily accessible from the M62 or the M1 motorways making it a great strategic stopover.

The pennine way crosses the A62 only 500 metre's away.

Marsden is the home of the gateway into the standedge tunnel, the longest deepest highest cannal tunnel.
