"Overnight stay on the way to Bath"
We stayed for one night on our way to a weekend stay in Bath. Arriving at about 3p.m. we were shown to our room by a very friendly member of staff. I then went down to the bar while my wife relaxed in the room. After enjoying a few beers we ate in the bar that night in front of a lovely open fire. A good nights sleep was followed by a pleasant breakfast. Read less
Likes:
Excellent accommodation - warm and clean. Superb range of beers, many brewed on site at the pubs own brewery. Bar food very good quality. staff very friendly and a great atmosphere in the bar at night
Dislikes:
Being woken very early by the sound of beer kegs being moved around (4-5 a.m.). Breakfast barely satisfactory compared to previous stays (scrambled egg on 'minute' English muffin, thin bread for toast

"Great classic pub stay"
An overnight stay whilst walking upriver along the Thames Path. This was our second-last night of a 14 day hike and it came at the end of the only really wet day. We were warmly welcomed despite being decidedly soggy. Only guests staying that night. Our room was really big and spacious and very comfortable. Great bath in which to soak weary bones. Loved looking out onto microbrewery below. Read less

Cosy, warm pub with friendly, helpful staff. Great fire. Sat in pub part for dinner. Food was delicious, creative, well-cooked and well-presented. Breakfast was equally as good. Great yoghurt.

The welcome was friendly, the pub was a perfect mixture of the traditional and the new, our room was spacious and the food and drink were superb.
Dislikes:
The room was too hot overnight due (we think) to a very hot radiator in the hallway being on all night. The service at breakfast was a bit cursory.

"High quality accommodation and first class food"
The management clearly strive for excellence. We found it difficult to criticise any part of our stay which was regrettably just for one night whilst walking the Thames Path; the accommodation is right on the path so a perfect position. Everything was of the highest possible quality. We were staying in one of their two dog friendly rooms but you would not have been aware of this except for the fact it had a tiled floor rather than carpet. It was spotlessly clean & breakfast of highest quality Read less

Excellent dinner and breakfast. Enjoyed your microbrewery beers.
Dislikes:
Not really just a comment that an explanation of each of the microbrewery beers would have been helpful and interesting. Just stating that they change too frequently to allow this is not good enough.

"A proper pub for locals that gives guests a great welcome"
Two nights in a pub that is managing to thrive in a town, once full of pubs, where almost all have sadly gone. We were visiting my mum's home town, place where our ancestors lived. Whilst most of the town could be anywhere, The Red Lion manages to keep old Cricklade connections alive, whilst definitely being a pub of now with its brewery and menu. The rooms were welcoming and well maintained. The staff were attentive...the food was local and great quality. The veggie breakfast was the best ever. Read less
Likes:
The pub. The rooms, beds and bedding. The wide choice of drinks. The seasonal menu.
The offer to barter food for veg on the restaurant menu. The lack of wasteful toiletries.
Dislikes:
Bit grubby round the bathroom taps.
