Pound-for-pound The Red Lion is one of the best places I've ever stayed. It has bags of character, great food and the onsite brewery is a beer drinker's delight. There are cheaper 'pubs with rooms' but it struck me as good value for a decent-sized double room and a great breakfast. Read less
Likes:
The staff were friendly and helpful; the room was clean, comfortable and quiet; the food was superb; huge selection of beers, many of which are brewed in-house.
Dislikes:
The Red Lion is almost perfect. But it's worth noting that the WiFi is patchy in the rooms and there's no car park (although there is a reasonable amount of free on-street parking at the front).

Lovely log burning fires in both the bar and the restaurant. The staff were lovely - and cheerily washed and dried my husband's jeans after an accident with a pint of beer.

Used the Red Lion as a central meeting point for family get together. We have stayed before and have been impressed with the warm welcome, quality of the rooms and the warm welcome given to dogs. We had lunch and a bar meal in the evening both of which were good value, attractively served and tasty. Read less

"Great little find"
We were visiting friends for their 60th birthday and were recommended this pub. With a beer festival in mid flow and a chance to sample the local (microbrewery on site), the pub was an excellent place to stay. The rooms were fantastic and although abutted the garden, once the door was closed, very little noise polluted the room. Definitively stay again. Read less
