We liked the character of the hotel which was in a great location. The staff were very friendly and helpful which makes a big difference. Had a lovely big room overlooking the village streets.
Dislikes:
Nothing really - a healthier breakfast option would have been welcome (fresh fruit and yoghurt?)

The room was very comfortable and a great size. Breakfast was excellent. Also, Eileen, the lady who serves the breakfast, was a mine of fascinating information about the history and culture of Lacock.

Lacock does not have to advertise for visitors.
As a National Trust village there are hordes of people coming to view this lovely village and Abbey.
I feel that The Red Lion bar area doesn’t have to try too hard to get custom and their standards are perhaps below what they could be in terms of repair and renovation.
The paintwork is quite shabby and knocked about, however, our bedroom was clean and well decorated and the bathroom was great. Read less

Quiet and close to Lacock Abbey. A good base to pop over to Bristol. Water in room daily appreciated.
Dislikes:
Bed and pillows too firm. The whole place in need of upgrade, decorations and new carpets.

"beautiful pub- let down by poor dinner service"
Lovely well equipped room in a beautiful old building in a prime position opposite the NT property Laycock Abbey. Breakfast service was fast and friendly but dinner was a different experience. The menu is very limited and on the second night of my stay despite advertising meals which included potatoes the chef had apparently run out!!
I was not offered a refund and when I asked for one was treated in a very hostile manner.
What a pity. Read less
