We had a superb lunch across the road at The Potting Shed prior to booking in to The Rectory.
We then relaxed and read the Sunday papers.
There was a lovely country house buzz about the house as a party were celebrating an 80th birthday.
A short nap and then some family members who lived locally joined us for an evening drink. Read less

"Potentially excellent but lacks personal touch"
The Rectory Hotel is a pleasant place to stay and eat, but it lacks the personal touch that would ensure my return visit. The staff had the briskness of a hotel chain comfortable with corporate events and weddings but lacked the friendly, conversational manner that I was expecting. Our room was clean and bright and had a great view. The hotel is beautiful and tastefully decorated with quirky pieces that show inspirational flair. Read less
Likes:
Digital radio, dressing gowns, comfortable beds and pillows, bath products. Restaurant good value. Breakfast exceptionally good.
Dislikes:
Showerhead fixed 2 inches from scalp. No way to adjust temperature without soaking floor. Restaurant service unskilled - “didn’t really know about wine”. Eco-unfriendly coral everywhere.

This beautiful, elegantly furnished period house is set in three acres of Cotswold stone walled garden. Recently renovated, it is an ideal base from which to explore the Cotswolds, Tetbury, Bath and the ancient town of Malmesbury.
The 12 bedrooms at The Rectory are all individually designed and feature hand sprung mattresses, fine Egyptian linens, deep baths and/or power showers, bathrobes and handmade bathroom products from Bamford, using locally produced organic ingredients. All rooms have views over the Victorian gardens.
We have a beautiful well established Victorian walled garden with sets of croquet and boules at reception for guests to use. There is also a table tennis table beside the heated, outdoor swimming pool.
The wood panelled restaurant overlooks the garden and sunken Victorian baptism pond. In the summer months, meals can be served inside in the dining room or outside in the beautiful Victorian formal gardens.
