The Old Ship Hotel is a well appointed hotel situated 500 yards off the A303 in the centre of the popular Wiltshire town of Mere, approximately 8 miles from Longleat and 3 miles from Stourhead. All of the rooms at the hotel are en suite with free wireless broadband internet service.

We provide reservations for our guests in our brand new restaurant. We also have a function room available for hire, suitable for buisness confrences and meetings which includes its own self contained bar and toilet facilities.

The Old Ship, Mere offers some of the very best hotel rates in the area. All rooms are en suite and include breakfast. Also a half board option is available upon request.

The Old Ship hotel was originally built as a mid 17th century house and reputedly converted into a coaching inn in 1785. The building has retained a wealth of charm and character; one of the most notable features is the mass of old ships timbers from which the business derives its name.

It was once the private residence of Sir John Coventry M.P. (until 1682). It was his banishment from court which led to the saying 'Sent to Coventry'.
