"Great quality for less than the price of a budget hotel"
I visited the Ivy Hotel for a total of seven nights spread across four weeks during November 2011. The cooked-to-order breakfast is to die for, and the quality of food generally was excellent, as was the service from the helpful staff. The rooms have plenty of power sockets, lights, etc., and there is free Wi-fi. There are a number of rooms in the original farmhouse, and some more in a 1970s/80s extension. I preferred the one in the older part of the property to those in the extension. Read less

Excellent food (wonderful breakfast, including choices such as full English and smoked salmon and poached eggs - all cooked to order); well-appointed rooms; great service; handy for Swindon and the M4
Dislikes:
The resin washbasin in one of the rooms that I stayed in in the extension was beginning to crack and generally show its age. Otherwise, nothing.

I stayed one night as l was attending a training course nearby the following day. I had a double room with en-suite facilities, which included a bath and power shower. It also had a TV but the reception was not good, so l tuned into the radio. The bed was very comfortable and l enjoyed an early breakfast having negotiated a disappointing shower. Read less

The room was comfortable and the location was ideal for my short journey the following morning.
Dislikes:
The power shower hose was not installed on the shower control panel but there was a hose running from the bath taps. The hot water took a long time to run in and the pressure was poor. Disappointing.

A couple of rooms did recently experience some problems with the pressure on their showers, this was due to a plumbing problem and as soon as it was reported a plumber was called in. Sorry you were affected with this. All rooms are checked prior to guests checking in, however this situation was totally out of our control and was not expected. Once again, please accept our apologises for this.
