"Perfect peace and relaxation"
Had two great nights at Cefn Y Dre, a lovely old house set in a beatiful garden about a mile outside Fishguard. The house is beautifully furnished with interesting family furniture and art. Very comfortable bedroom with en suite shower room, use of a cosy sitting room with a log burner and books, fantastic breakfast in lovely dining room. We had dinner on the second night, delicious fresh food including ingredients from the garden. Hosts very friendly and helpful. Left feeling totally relaxed. Read less

Cefn-y-Dre has a unique ‘sense of place’, a history reaching back 500 years. There are links to Lloyd George, views across the Preseli hills and Carn Ingli - the location for Brian John's ‘Angel Mountain’ saga - and the fascinating Fishguard Lower Town, film sets for both 'Moby Dick' (Spencer Tracy) and Dylan Thomas' 'Under Milk Wood' (Richard Burton). The ferry to Ireland is only ten minutes drive away.

The bedrooms are furnished to a high standard with hospitality trays providing a selection of teas and coffees, hairdryers and flat screen digital televisions with Freeview and radio channels, to ensure you are kept in touch with the outside world.

Cefn-y-Dre has been awarded the Pembrokeshire Produce Mark, with only the best of local ingredients being used in our meals. All eggs, and most vegetables and salads come from our kitchen garden, ensuring that everything is fresh, top quality and local! Forget food miles - here things are measured in yards!

Dinner can be provided if booked in advance and we have a residential licence, so you can choose from a selection of beers, wines or champagnes at very reasonable prices.

Enjoy the tranquility from a sunny lounge (complete with a baby grand piano) looking across the garden; and find out about the 500 years of history around you by browsing through the books about Pembrokeshire, Wales and Welsh literature and culture. Borrow our large scale maps if you wish to explore off the beaten track.

Cefn-y-Dre is well summed up in the current edition of ‘The Rough Guide to Wales’ - two very simple words: "understated elegance".
