My only quibble would be that there was mould in the toilet and shower area, however that wouldn't stop me from staying there again.
Response from Hillrise Guest House:

Hillrise is a small friendly-run Guest House offering a very high standard of accommodation and home cooked food with a 3 star registration. There is a homely and intimate feel to the Guest Sitting Room with Living Flame Gas Fire, Colour Television with Freeview and DVD video player together with a selection of DVD's to watch.

Bowburn is well located for visiting the North East's attractions, particularly the historic city of Durham. Durham Cathedral is the greatest Norman building in England, perhaps even in Europe. It is cherished not only for its architecture but also for its incomparable setting. Slightly further afield is Beamish Museum, Britain's favourite open air museum, set in over 300 acres of beautiful countryside, vividly recreates life in the North of England in the early 1800s and 1900s.There is also The Bowes Museum at Barnard Castle, about 30 minutes drive South from the Guest House. A superb museum housed in a custom-made Italian style 19th. Century palazzo.
