The Hundred House Hotel

Welcome to the Hundred House Hotel and Fish in The Fountain Restaurant in Truro.

Amongst various uses and ownerships throughout its recorded history, the charming building, dating back to the 1790s, hosted in the first half of the 19th century the Court House for the Hundred of South Powder. Later, in the possession of an Admiralty surgeon, it became a gracious gentleman's residence. During the 1950s, the Hundred House took on its status of an hotel, which nowadays - set in its own three acres of grounds - still retains that elegance and charm of a bygone era. From the moment you step inside the large hall with its splendid Victorian hand-carved mahogany staircase, you get the feeling of a peaceful and intimate country house hotel promising a warm welcome.

The park-like gardens offer the opportunity to enjoy a Cornish cream tea or a game of croquet on the lawn. Take a stroll through Pixie Glen or even sit by the lily pond, enveloped by the scents of sub-tropical flowering shrubs and plants.

Sympathetically furnished and decorated throughout with antiques, fine china, crystal, old photographs, oil paintings and flowers cut from our nursery, the public rooms are comfortable and cosy, inviting you to relax as you would at home. Cuisine is at the heart of the Hotel, with the Fish in the Fountain Restaurant proving not only our award winning chef's passion for fish and seafood, but also providing an imaginative daily changing menu. We use seasonal homegrown salads, tomatoes, fruit and herbs as well as prime local fish, game, poultry, sweet Cornish lamb and other exotic meats. Our breakfast menu is 95% homegrown and come the summer months with our own ripe tomatoes it will be 100%. Free Range Chickens & Pigs roam in the garden.

We are only a very short drive or walk to the nearest beach.
