"disappointing first impression"
Booked our break on-line with check in time of 2pm but on arrival the hotel was deserted. After searching round the rather faded porch we found a number to contact the owner which we tried but it just rang out. Futher searching revealed two more numbers under a stone on the windowsill, one was an incorrect number, the other eventually contacted a member of staff who said she didn't know when to expect us even though our booking form clearly stated 2pm. Peaceful location with lovely views. Nice room alhough slightly dusty and we had to ask for a hairdryer.
Response from Marston Lodge Hotel:
We were very quiet at the time and had taken the time to resupply in town. On meeting the Jacksons they were the most miserable guests we have had so far this season (& this was expressed by all our staff). Unfortunately they had a bad grumpy vibe throughout and frankly good ridence.
The rooms are spotless and so dusty is not something we recognise,... bad attitude from the guests I am sure.We also have so many hairdryers stolen that we now keep them seperate. Hotel externals will be done 2012.
