We enjoyed the comfort and the warmth of the welcome.
Dislikes:
Not really. The property benefits from its age and location and therefore "modern" charateristics are not expected.
Response from The Old Hall Inn:
Thank you for your kind review, and we were delighted to welcome you for a second time. Hope to see you again soon. Dan

"Nice place, good food and ale"
This was a rare break for my husband and I and in truth I was hoping for roaring log fires and soft leather sofas and did not find this. The Inn is well situated for walkers and the atmosphere was relaxed enough although staff were a little rushed at times in the evenings. The food was very nice, although my medium steak was definitely well done. Surprised the food is not rated in any guides because I think it's worth recognition. The staff were eager to please . The room was clean and comfy . Read less
Likes:
Nicely situated. Room was quiet at night and comfortable. Ale was lovely and food was good standard pub grub.
Dislikes:
A little chilly in the pub at times. Would have preferred something more intimate and cosy but the Inn does not profess to be that so that was my mistake.
Response from The Old Hall Inn:
Thank you for the review, we are delighted to hear you believe the food to be worth recognition. We do have a roaring log fire stove in the minstrels gallery which is keep in all winter, and as a rule the Old Hall is found to be very warm & cosy, especially because it is often so busy. I'm sorry in this instance you found it to be chilly at times. Due to the layout of this small couching inn, we are only able to accommodate one leather sofa, which is in the bar area.

The Old Hall is the quintessential country inn offering a famously warm welcome, with a strong local trade all year round making for a great lively atmosphere any time of the year. We have been voted Derbyshire Pub of the Year 2010 and 2011 and have won the Great British Pub Awards for ‘Best Cask Pub in the east midlands' for the last two years running, have gone in to the Good Pub Guide for 2011 and been award numerous accolades for our commitment to using Peak District produce in our restaurant.

Its busy restaurant & ale trade spills into the adjacent Elizabethan Minstrels Gallery making the Old Hall a truly unique place to stay. The menu changes daily as our chefs prepare from fresh every day, using local produce from the best suppliers and farms. Our menu is kept small, but gives a choice of traditional pub food along with more gourmet choices if you fancy something special. Its fresh, simple, great value and we hope you’ll agree, delicious.
