Thanks for your geenrous review.
Softness/hardness of beds are tricky since people's tastes vary so much. We are now doubling the fabric softener for the towels!

"Beautiful house; family life intrudes on comfort of guests."
Interesting! The house itself is old and beautiful and it was a privilidge to stay in it. However; the family very much get on with their lives; wearing underpants to visit the loo; squashing flies on the mirror,; rowing outside bedroom door at 4 am and storming off out and slamming the front door. Breakfast was served early due to owner going out (was arranged when we arrived) and was cold as on table when we got down. It was nice and plenty of choice of cereal tea coffee etc. Read less
Likes:
The building was beautiful; the garden would be lovely but full of the nursery school equipment. It was cheap and it was an adventure to say the least.
Dislikes:
The row at 4 am! The beds were very hard and the linin heavy and unyeilding. House is in need of renovation in places with alarming cracks in the ceiling; but am sure it is expensive to do.
Response from Rothmans Bed & Breakfast:

I was not happy with the hotel and would not recommend it.
Response from Rothmans Bed & Breakfast:
Puzzled by the friendliness and staff service scores - maybe I had taken my children out and was not so available? (a problem with B&B since we are a family operation with no staff)

Rothmans Bed and Breakfast is located in Great Baddow in Essex, just 30 minutes from London. The house is a Grade II Heritage listed 17th Century manor home, with many original features, including a Jacobean staircase and panelled, oak-beamed rooms. Wisteria-bedecked windows look south across a large, secluded walled garden. In the garden, we have plenty of facilities to keep the children occupied, and our fantastic snooker room is perfect for a relaxed evening of entertainment.

The local area Great Baddow is a village with a population of around 7,300, located in the heart of Essex in South-East England. The area has been inhabited since the Bronze Age, with the village's existence recorded as early as 1000 A.D.
