We stayed for 5 nights in a superior twin room on the first floor. The room was very spacious with a good-sized en-suite shower room. The beds were extremely comfortable. The room was decorated very pleasantly in a conventional style. The hotel is in a very pleasant part of Southsea - just a few minutes walk from the beach. Sometimes we were able to park in the hotel forecourt - but there was always a place nearby in the road if necessary. The hotel suited our purposes completely. Read less

We were VERY impressed with the service - particularly by the waitress service at breakfast! The waitresses were friendly and quietly efficient. The public areas with comfy sofas looked inviting.

Comfortable bed with 2 pillows ! Lovely breakfast. Powerful shower. Room was a good size and a comfortable heat.
Dislikes:
Felt a bit pressured to leave our room in time for cleaners. Was greeted nicely to start with then told we hadn't paid our deposit which we had and had to prove it !!! This left me a bit annoyed !

Parking was available in the street. Breakfast was good and staff service at breakfast was excellent.
Dislikes:
Narrow staircases and firedoors made it difficult to carry luggage up to the second floor. Poor lighting in room. Shower difficult to use, long time for hot water, no hose, fixed to ceiling, no shelf.

St. Margaret's Lodge is a delightful detached Edwardian property built in 1907 and situated in a superb location just yards from Southsea's historical and attractive esplanade, boating lake and convenient public transport.
The property is spacious and extremely well maintained with centrally heated ensuite bedrooms and comfortable colour co-ordinated individual furnishings, quality toiletries, TV, clock radio alarms, hairdryer, tea/coffee making facilities and complementary spring water.
Enjoy a light or traditional English breakfast, varied and prepared daily by our resident chef and served at tables overlooking our pretty garden. We also boast a spacious TV lounge, two quiet rooms for readers and a spacious seated reception area with log fire during the winter months.
