The Old House

The Old House is a character, listed 16th century building. A family run licensed guest house conveniently situated for Braintree town centre, railway station and buses. Fifteen miles from Stansted and close to Freeport Shopping Village where there are also restaurants, ten pin bowling and cineworld. The town centre can also porvide a wide choice of restaurants and pubs while nearby are Cressing Temple Barns, Hedingham Castle and Coggeshall. Convenient for the Fennes estate and Gosfield Hall and several other wedding venues.

All our large bedrooms have freeview television and beverage trays. Our special four poster room can provide something sprcial with the option of a De Luxe package of flowers, champagne, fruit, chocolates, biscuits and breakfast served in the room. Ground floor rooms are available and our largest room can accommodate a family of up to five. There is plenty of parking on site and mature gardens are somewhere to relax in the summer while our lounge provides a log fire to relax in front of in the winter. Free Broadband access is available in the lounge as well as wi fi in rooms, limited, due to structure of building.

A small, private function room is available which is suitable for a variety of special occasions and meetings, Evening meals are offered as are quick lunchtime snacks for guest in a hurry. Breakfast offers a variety of choices and special diets can be catered for.
