We treated ourselves to a suite as this stay was to celebrate a special birthday, and we were delighted with the spaciousness and comfort of the room. The location, for seeing this part of the coast, couldn't be better - the setting is beautiful and the quiet is so restful. Meals were a particular treat - local produce (all acknowledged) features prominently, and the menu changed each evening of our stay - it was often a difficult choice! Read less

This attractive Georgian house, once owned by the third Lord Derwentwater, now offers today’s visitor a rare retreat for true relaxation, along with a central point for venturing through the delights of North Northumberland and the Scottish Borders.
Relax in the gardens or in the comfortable lounge and adjacent library. For those seeking the simple pleasures of walking - the sandy shore offers mile upon mile of beautiful scenery.
From this tranquil setting it is easy to find the treasures of the Heritage Coast, including the magnificent castle at Bamburgh, just two miles away. The Farne Islands, scene of the daring exploits of Victorian heroine Grace Darling, is reachable by boat from nearby Seahouses and the famous garden at Alnwick is just a short car journey away.
Wi-Fi internet access is available in the lounge and library areas and in some rooms. A laptop is available for guest's internet use. The hotel welcomes children aged 14 and over. Small dogs accepted by arrangement.
