Everything was very well presented, the house is old and full of character and the breakfasts on both mornings were excellent and with lots of variety on offer for menu choice.

The Old Bakehouse enjoys a central location ideal for visiting Dartmoor, Exmoor, Exeter & Barnstaple. Also convenient for RHS Rosemoor near Great Torrington, North Devon, and many National Trust Properties including Killerton House, Arlington Court, Castle Drogo and Knightshayes. Even nearer to hand you'll find the Chulmleigh Golf Course, the Bold Try Riding Stables, and Devon Art Courses at Newlane Cottage, Wembworthy. Chulmleigh makes a good base for touring all parts of Devon, and these local facilities make 'The Old Bakehouse' ideal for golfing, riding and art breaks at any time of year. We are pleased to welcome cyclists exploring the National Cycle Network and can safely store a number of cycles without difficulty. The house was built in about 1520 and is reputed to be the most ancient building in Chulmleigh. We welcome you, our guests, from near and far, into our beautiful house: our aim is to make you feel totally at home, whether you stay for many days or just a short break. We are sure that you will join the ever-increasing number of guests who return to visit us time and again.
