Dislikes:
The price of the wine & food was a little high. My expense budget did not cover the whole cost but the food was very good and worth it!

The former shooting lodge for Closeburn Castle stands in over four acres of gardens and mature woodland in the heart of picturesque Dumfriesshire. Current owners Adam and Jan have created a charming country house hotel offering guests the relaxed ambience and comfort of a family home.
The bedrooms at the Trigony House Hotel are all individually styled and most enjoy garden views and look across to the Lowther Hills to the east or the Kier Hills to the west. The Garden Suite boasts its conservatory from which to admire the hotel’s stunning setting.
Well deserving of their Gold Plate and “Superb Breakfast” commendation by Hotel Review Scotland their culinary inspiration doesn’t stop there. Classic rustic Scottish and English dishes along with European peasant fare is served in the elegant, sun-bathed restaurant, overlooking the lovingly maintained gardens, or in the cosy bar beside a welcoming open fire.
Close by there is Drumlanrig Castle to visit providing an art collection, beautifully restored 17th century gardens, and a country park. A little further to the north you can explore the rolling hills of the Southern Uplands and to the south the dramatic cliff tops of the Solway Coast.
