"Great place to relax and chill out"
Our stay was great, very relaxing and great fishing. The weekend away was a surprise birthday present for my partner, she thouroughly enjoyed it, we both did, there was only one thing that we thought could be better and that was the fishing pegs, they werent very well maintained, in fact some of them were it seemed a little dangerous, also more could have been put in if the ponds and lakes had been maintained better. The room was brill and the view over the lake was great. When arriving we were shown to our room and left to it. We didn't know where breakfast was served so didn't end up havin any. Nobody checked if the room was ok or if we were ok. Food was really nice.
We went for a fishing weekend. We spent about 8 hrs fishing and caught 3 bream 1 carp and 4 roach that was fishing on all 3 lakes. Considering the website said 'guaranteed a good days fishing' we feel it was a huge let down!! Read less

Take a traditional oak-beamed country freehouse pub with real ales and guest beers, a separate restaurant which serves home- cooked food and blend the two on a 10-acre wooded site with some of the best carp and tench fishing for miles around and you have the recipe for the Watersmeet Hotel and Angling Centre at Hartpury in the heart of Gloucestershire.

Situated on the main Gloucester to Ledbury road only 10 minutes from the M50, the Watersmeet looks like another pretty country pub at first sight. It's easy not to see the Front Pool set back from the main road and unless you wanted a drink or a bite to eat you would probably never see the Main Pool at the rear, or Tench Pool set to one side amidst the trees and shrubs.

Inside the 'olde-worlde' charm is infectious. If you are looking for a picture postcard English country inn - this is it. Only the occasional angling print on the walls, the wooden carving of a 30lb Mirror Carp above the fireplace or the cased fish around the walls give the game away.

This is an angler's hideaway through and through. Even the pools are the real thing - former claypits dug in the 1840s which had to be abandoned when they became flooded through seepage from nearby springs.

All rooms are contained within two buildings which overlook the garden and pools - indeed some are so close to the waterside that you could almost fish from your window... no long treks to your swim, or for a beer!

This all makes Watersmeet the ideal choice for overnight business travellers, couples or families looking for a relaxing break which combines the best of all worlds. It all goes to make Watersmeet the ideal place to stay.
